Savant I [1] Savant, (Novag Savant)

a dedicated chess computer released in 1981 by Novag Industries LTD. The Savant had a Z80 CPU with 24 KB ROM and 4 KB RAM running on 3.6 MHz. The Savant was years ahead of its time using an LCD chessboard with touchscreen technology [2]. The program was based on David Kittinger’s MyChess, and competed at the Commercial Group of the WMCCC 1981 in Travemünde and the ACM 1982 in Dallas, Texas.
