Reinhard Scharnagl [1] Reinhard Scharnagl, (died in August 2015)

was a German computer chess programmer, and author of the chess program SMIRF. Reinhard was pioneer in Fischer Random Chess (FRC / Chess960) [2] as well for chess variants with other board sizes like 10x8. On August 01, 2015 he posted on his Google+ site that he survived three weeks of chemotherapy and radiation therapy fighting brain tumor [3]. He died soon later that month in August 2015 [4] [5].
