Jean-Philippe Karr [1] Jean-Philippe Karr,

a French physicist, associate professor at University of Évry Val d’Essonne and member of the Trapped Ions Group, Kastler–Brossel Laboratory [2]. His research activities concern precision measurements with trapped ultra-cold ions to carry out tests of fundamental theories and to improve knowledge of the constants of physics. The technique of sympathetic cooling via the Coulomb interaction with ions cooled by laser plays a central role in these projects. He also conducts high-precision calculations on three-body quantum systems in connection with molecular ion spectroscopy experiments [3]. Jean-Philippe Karr is Chess International Master [4], and along with François Karr co-author of the chess engine BugChess2 [5].
