Gerhard Mehlsam,

an Austrian computer scientist. He defended his Ph.D. at Vienna University of Technology in 1989 [1], and continued his research along with Hermann Kaindl and Wilhelm Barth on Feature Construction during Tree Learning, which addresses the “problem of new terms” in the context of learning decision trees using the approach based on Ross Quinlan’s Iterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3) [2].
