Chess for Acorn Atom [1] Chess, (CC)

a series of commercial chess programs by David Thompson, written in 6502 assembly for Acorn home computers, Commodore 64 and Oric computers. Chess 1.12 was published in 1981 for the Acorn Atom, released by Acornsoft. In 1983, Chess was released through Computer Concepts targeting the BBC Micro [2], while the Acornsoft Chess brand for the BBC Micro was continued with a program by Arthur Norman and Nick Pelling [3]. Chess was further adapted for the Commodore 64 and released in 1984 by Superior Software [4], and by IJK Software for the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos [5].
